Ministry suggests raising 2019 tariffs from Jan 1, not on July 1

MOSCOW, Aug 7 (PRIME) -- The Economic Development Ministry has suggested the government raise tariffs of natural monopolies in 2019 from January 1 instead of the customary July 1 to raise the tariffs simultaneously with value-added tax (VAT), a representative of the ministry told PRIME late on Monday.

President Vladimir Putin on August 3 signed into law a bill raising VAT to 20% from 18% from January 1, 2019.

“The ministry suggested synchronization of changes in the taxes and tariffs in 2019, or raising the tariffs from January 1, 2019,” the representative said, adding that the tariffs would in this case take the VAT hike into account and will not rise in summer.
